Sometimes the biggest of problems is solved by just a little bit of extra knowledge. After all, even 1+1 is difficult until you know how to add up. Reading or listening to business books is a great way to improve your general knowledge of how to run a successful business, so we have complied a list of books that make great reading for anyone looking to run a successful estate agency.
1. Where Did My Industry Go?
No estate agency list would be complete without this go to book for estate agents. We are biased of course, as the book was written by the CEO of Iceberg Digital! However, it is also an Amazon best-seller and reached number 2 in the business book charts so does have some external credentials too. This is a great book for agents, written about the way in which marketing has changed and as it is written specifically for estate agency, you do not have to try and think of how the teachings might apply to our industry.
2. Oversubscribed
Oversubscribed by Daniel Priestley is a slap in the face to the idea of ‘market share’ in estate agency. The book focuses on making profit as opposed to having more customers and whilst you may think those two things go hand in hand, Oversubscribed shows you that actually – they don’t.
3. Zero to One
Peter Thiel, founder of Paypal, gives some extremely useful advice about how to make your business unique. Estate Agency is awash with companies that struggle to differentiate themselves from each other and this book helps to show you how you can do just that with subtle tweaks to your service.
4. Traction
Have you ever heard companies talk about their vision, mission or goals and wonder where the hell they come up with all that stuff from? Gino Wickman is responsible for creating EOS, the Entrepreneurs Operating System, and boy is it a good one! Traction is not only an interesting read but also acts as a workbook to actually take you through the tasks of building out lots of areas of your business that you might be lacking in.
5. The Estate Agency Revolution
The estate agency revolution is the 2nd book by Mark Burgess on this list. It came out on the 27th July 2020 and has already become a best seller in 3 different categories! This one is a must for any agents thinking about how to shape their business in the 2020’s. You can buy it from amazon here
