These glasses weigh just 100 grams and boast a 70-degree field of view, significantly wider than existing AR devices like Microsoft’s Hololens 2. Meta’s Orion prototype promises not only to enhance digital experiences but also to introduce groundbreaking solutions for industries like Estate Agency, where visual representation and client engagement are paramount.

Beyond Bulky Headsets: A Seamless Experience
For UK estate agents, one of the most exciting aspects of Meta’s AR glasses is the sleek and lightweight design. Until now, AR and virtual reality (VR) headsets have been bulky and impractical for everyday use, limiting their potential in fields like property. Meta has been developing AR technology since 2019, and while the Orion prototype looks promising, the current cost of production is estimated at £10,000 per unit. Obviously, this is far from feasible for most professionals today.

However, Zuckerberg has indicated that Meta is working on scaling up manufacturing to bring down costs. According to the company’s roadmap, a consumer-ready version of these AR glasses could hit the market by 2027. By then, this technology might be accessible to a wide range of industries, including Estate Agency.
